Frequently asked questions

Q: Where are you located?

A: Ewa Beach. Lessons take place at our secret, secluded beach on the south side. It’s a beautiful location with empty line ups and perfect for beginners. Approximately 20 minutes from Waikiki, 10 minutes from Ko Olina, 30 minutes from the North Shore

Q: Why should we choose kalani surf school over all the other surf lessons on oahu?

A: Kalani Surf School is committed to safety above all else.

Our lessons are held at a secluded beach, away from the over-packed crowds of Waikiki because the last thing you want when learning to surf is dodging other beginners at breaks with hundreds of people. Our secret lesson spot provides you with a fun, and most importantly, SAFE experience where you won’t have to worry about being ran over by other surfers, injured by flying boards, or intimidated by locals.

Not only are our lesson plans packed with knowledge from native Hawaiians about the sport of He’e Nalu (surfing), but we also educate you on the best way to respect and enjoy the āina (land). Our team is made up of Hawaii native waterman and women and USLA certified lifeguards with years of experience surfing in these waters, so you can trust that we know what we’re doing.

We created Kalani Surf School to share our passion of surf and the Hawaiian ocean with our local residents and visitors in a totally safe and aloha-driven way that we feel completely in alignment with.

Q: Do you offer discounts for locals?

A: Yes! We are pleased to offer Kama Āina discounts for Hawai’i residents.

Furthermore, our Wednesday and Sunday morning classes offer a discounted tuition rate to make it possible for you to get in the water learning on a weekly basis.

Please inquire for further details.
